Suit Up 4 Life
Suit Up 4 Life has helped hundreds by providing business attire for interviews. By providing interview counseling and business attire, Suit Up 4 Life offers vital services to men of all ages and ethnic backgrounds, as well as displaced workers, unemployed, working class poor, homeless and the formerly incarcerated. Men that have come to us take the first step of investing in themselves to change. We assist by offering a program that takes them to the next level in their employment retention, personal and family life.
Suit Up 4 Life’s philosophy is “A Hand Up Not a Handout”. For fathers to be leaders in the home, at work and in the community professional attire, career development tools and job stability are needed for empowerment.
Interview Preparation & Counseling
A referred participant is introduced to a trained reentry specialist that will begin an assessment to identify needs and resources tailored to that individual’s need. The specialist will then began the employability assesment, review/or develop a resume, evaluate job application skillfulness, coach the participant on job search, identify potential barriers to an upcoming interview with mock disclosure dialogue, review the work environment/culture in which the interview will take place and offer specific and concrete tools to overcome potential obstacles in securing gainful employment.
Interview Clothing
We work with men one-on-one to help select a “suit” for the upcoming job interview. Professional clothing provided includes a suit, dress shirt, tie, belt, and shoes (when available).
Each participant receives one suit for an interview. In 2010 and the first quarter 2011, over 250 men received an interview suit and employability coaching.
